Job Title: General Assembly I
Department: Production
Reports to: Plant Manager or Scheduler

General Job Function: To assemble wire harnesses and cable assemblies using hand tools in a safe, efficient manner while meeting production requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Wire – Stripping – Machine and Hand
  • Bench style/foot operated terminal crimping machine
  • Basic hand soldering
  • Using hand or mechanical crimp tool
  • Multi-conductor cable assembly
  • Build to work instructions
  • Multi-conductor plug-ins
  • Point-to-Point test / Test Equipment usage
  • Harness board lay-up
  • Other special assembly projects, as assigned
  • Meet production rates
  • Final inspection of finished components
  • Other duties as assigned by your direct Supervisor
  • Training will be provided

Education and Skills Desired: High School, GED or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment.

Essential Job Functions: The following physical activities described here are representative of those that must be met by every employee to successfully perform the essentials functions of this job.

  • Continuously required to remain upright on the feet for sustained periods of time
  • Frequently required to position self to maintain proper assembly of parts which would include bending, squatting and reaching
  • Occasionally required to lift up to 25 lbs. in order to move assembled parts from one location to another
  • Frequently required to move about to place assembled parts at the next station
  • Ability to use common sense understanding in order to carry out simple multi-step instructions
  • Requires constant finger/wrist dexterity using repetitive motion of the hands to make parts
  • Ability to see details at close range (within inches of the observer)
  • Ability to keep hands/arms steady while moving your arm or holding your arm and hand in one position
  • Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble small objects

  • Use of measurement devices

  • Test Equipment usage
  • Harness board lay-up
  • Other special assembly projects, as assigned

The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing regulatory and internal customer-specific testing of the assemblies produced at MJM Industries. In this position, one needs to be able to read and analyze testing results and complete all necessary paperwork. A successful candidate would be someone who is a self-motivated problem solver with a strong work ethic. Full-time position.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Determines material conformance to established quality specifications and requirements.
  • Documents inspection results by completing quality logs and summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database.
  • Keeps measurement equipment operational by following operating instructions; advises supervisor of malfunctioning equipment.
  • Reports and provides feedback to the Quality Manager on the performance of the quality system as a means of a general review or as a basis for improvement of the quality system.
  • Makes efforts to achieve and keep certification to the quality standards of ISO 9001 as well as other certificates and standards.

OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates as a member in interdepartmental projects/tasks by providing status/update reports specific to Quality.
  • Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in an ISO quality environment. Strong analytical and communication skills are required. Attention to detail and appreciation of deadlines is essential.
  • This position requires the ability to meet deadlines. The ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize their importance as required.
  • Problem-solving abilities
  • Must be able to comprehend and retain internal and regulatory requirements
  • Must be able to handle physical, repetitive work and be able to stand on your feet for 10 hours a day
  • Must be able to distinguish between part numbers and sizes
  • Must understand and follow the quality policy and procedures
  • Complete routine inspections using applicable drawing, criteria, gauging, control plans, and sampling plans.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, filing systems, and appropriate documentation to conform with all quality regulations.
  • Communicate with the Quality Manager regarding questionable measurements, visual discrepancies and/or non-conforming parts.
  • Approve finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work.
  • Proven experience as a quality inspector or relevant role.
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Ability to operate all standard inspection equipment including calipers, micrometers, scales, and ruler
  • Ability to read blueprints, technical documents, drawings, and diagrams

Reporting to Purchasing and/or Production Managers, the Warehouse Associate is fully responsible for the daily activities surrounding raw inventory and finished goods.  Duties include, but not limited to, receipt and registering of raw materials, maintaining an organized stockroom, cleaning and cataloging components, conducting cycle counts, handling issues related to shipping or inventory handling, ensure adherence to environmental management of product, troubleshooting inventory variances, kitting materials to factory orders, operating forklifts and pallet jacks, handling UPS, FedEx and DHL documentation, bundling outgoing cartons onto skids, and preparing outgoing shipment paperwork.

Experience with material handling equipment, Microsoft Excel, shipping software and MRP software would be ideal.
